Kate Biles, PT has been practicing physical therapy for 25 years since graduating from the University of Scranton in 1984. She is a certified Direct Access Provider in Pennsylvania which enables her to evaluate and treat patients for 30 days prior to having a referral from a physician. Kate has extensive training in many areas of manual therapies and is considered an expert regarding myofascial release, cranio-sacral therapy, muscle energy technique, joint mobilization and soft tissue mobilization. She has trained extensively with John F. Barnes PT, and worked in his clinic as chief therapist for 5 years. She is certified in Manual Lymphatic Therapy (from the Norton School) and also Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment. Kate teaches seminars on myofascial release and handling techniques so that therapists can improve their assessment skills, manual therapy skills and movement re-education strategies. She is highly experienced with complex pain patients and has a passion for working with those people who have not responded to traditional physical therapy; such as failed spinal surgery patients, those with chronic headache, pelvic pain, frozen shoulders, and chronic back and neck pain. She is very interested in helping patients with postural dysfunction syndrome and scoliosis so that they have less pain and easier movement to function more efficiently each day. Kate is currently in private practice in Malvern where, for the past 15 years, she has been working with children and adults with varied movement and pain problems. Her personal interest in holistic healing and integrative medicine is what brought her to join The Office of Christine F. Hayes PT, PC in 2007. She is a welcome addition to both the physical therapy practice and integrated healing center. She is available 2 days per week. Kate is working on a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy and will graduate in May '10. |
